Corned Beef Pickle Dip Recipe
An unexpected way to use canned corn beef is in this quick cracker dip recipe.
Canned Corned Beef Pickle Dip Ingredients
12oz canned CORNED BEEF
1 cup finely chopped PICKLES
16oz SOUR CREAM or substitute CREAM CHEESE
1 Tbsp dried minced ONION
½ tsp BLACK PEPPER
optional:
CREAMY HORSERADISH or chopped pickled JALAPENO to taste
I use about 1 Tbsp of each in the video recipe
Serve dip with crackers or sliced veggies
How to make Corned Beef Pickle Dip
- I like to use 16 oz. of sour cream for this recipe, but you can substitute plain Greek yogurt or cream cheese, or use a mixture of these ingredients. If using cream cheese, set it out to soften beforehand.
- Finely chop some dill pickles, or use a premade relish.
- I like to add chopped jalapenos or creamy horseradish for heat, but that’s optional.
- In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients until well mixed. If you make the dip ahead of time, it will allow for the flavors to come together, but it’s fine to eat right away.
- Serve with crackers or sliced fresh veggies like celery, carrot, and bell pepper. It’s a heavy dip, so it balances well with fresh veggies, and it’s very filling.
Canned Corned Beef Recipe Ideas
Canned corned beef is a popular ingredient for breakfast. Simply slice and fry the beef in a skillet and serve with eggs, grits, potatoes, rice, or whatever.
Canned beef is great on a simple sandwich. Sear beef slices in a skillet and eat them on white bread with plenty of mustard. This tastes great sitting outside your trailer in your favorite lawn chair. Do you like BLTs? What about a CBLT? A Corned beef, lettuce, and tomato sandwich is yummy.
Making a corned beef hash with diced potatoes is a breakfast classic. If you’ve ever tried a premade canned corn beef hash, then you know it’s pretty awful. But, if you make the hash at home with fresh potatoes and onions and canned corned beef, it’s terrific. Check current prices for Corned Beef on Amazon.
Corned Beef Hash Recipe
12oz canned CORNED BEEF
2 medium-sized POTATOES
1 ONION
2 Tbsp WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
SALT and PEPPER to taste
OIL for cooking
How to make Corned Beef Hash
- Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat.
- Add in diced potatoes. Cut potatoes uniformly, slightly smaller than a game die. You can skin the potatoes if you like, but why? It’s easier not to skin the potatoes, and the skin is good, so think about it, dude. Saute potatoes for about five minutes. Give the dish an occasional stir, but not too much.
- Mix in the chopped onion, and continue sauteing another 5 minutes.
- Add in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Shred corned beef into the skillet and mix well. Raise the skillet temperature to medium high and continue cooking 5-10 minutes more, or until the dish is done to your liking. Check current prices for a non-stick skillet on Amazon.
I love serving this classic corned beef hash recipe with toast and a couple of soft-yolked eggs. Maybe a splash of hot sauce?
Or try a traditional pairing of corned beef and cabbage. It’s super easy to make, especially if you’re using canned corned beef. The vinegar and Worcestershire give the dish a nice zing, and it’s a terrific comfort food that’s filling without requiring a ton of ingredients.

1 large ONION
1 large CARROT
3-4 cloves GARLIC
¼ cup VINEGAR
2 Tbsp WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
1 tsp CARAWAY SEEDS
1 Tbsp dried HERBS
SALT and PEPPER to taste
OIL for cooking
How to make Corned Beef and Cabbage
- Heat oil on medium heat in a large, heavy bottomed pot.
- Add chopped onions. Saute onions for about five minutes.
- Season onions with salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Add in garlic and saute for another minute.
- Add the cabbage and carrots and continue to cook on medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce and vinegar and mix well.
- Reduce the heat to medium low and let cook uncovered until much of the water has cooked out of the dish. Stir occasionally.
- While cabbage continues to cook, open canned corned beef and chop and form beef into marble-sized pieces.
- Lightly spray a skillet with oil and sear the beef on medium high heat until well browned.
- When cabbage has reached desired doneness, add in the seared beef and toss lightly.
- Serve hot.
I prefer searing the beef in a separate skillet because it gives the canned meat a better flavor if it’s seared well. Check current prices for a non-stick skillet on Amazon. And, you can simply add the beef right out of the can into the cabbage if you prefer, but I think searing the beef well is worth the added effort.
This is an easy, semi-healthy, and exceptionally tasty dish. I like my corned beef and cabbage recipe kind of mild, but adding a little hot sauce or cooking fresh chiles into the onions is an easy way to add heat.
